Today, on MLK Day, we at the KKSQ honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the impact he had on the city of Atlanta and the world. Dr. King was a leader, a visionary, and a true champion of justice and equality. He fought tirelessly for the rights of African Americans and all marginalized communities, and his impact can still be felt today.
Dr. King spent much of his life in Atlanta, and it was here that he began his journey towards becoming one of the most influential leaders in American history. He attended Morehouse College, a historically Black college in Atlanta, where he studied theology and philosophy. It was at Morehouse where Dr. King first began to understand the impact of racism and discrimination on his community, and where he first began to develop his philosophy of nonviolence and civil disobedience.
Dr. King's time at Morehouse College was a turning point in his life, and it was in Atlanta where he began to truly understand the power of community and the importance of working together to create change. As we continue to work to create a more equitable and just society, we are reminded of the words of Dr. King: "We are not makers of history. We are made by history."
Let us honor Dr. King's legacy by continuing to work towards creating a better future for our community. His message is still as relevant today as it was during his time. We are committed to creating a space where community members can come together to learn, collaborate, and create new ideas and solutions to local challenges. We hope to empower the community to take control of their spaces and re-imagine pathways to entrepreneurship, just as Dr. King did during his time at Morehouse college.
We honor Dr. King's legacy and commitment to community and social justice, and we will continue to work towards creating a more equitable and just society for all.
